SANTORINI ancient Greece

  GOLDEN AGE....

 "From Myth to History"

PORPHYRA FRESCO COLLECTION

Since 1991 Porphyra Jewellery  has presented

the Fresco Collection inspired  by the wall paintings

of Akrotiri, Thera, bringing back the messages that

the Therans left to eternity. We felt the need

to protect these symbols that constitute

our cultural heritage using gold exactly the same way

the Therans did 4000 years ago.

In 1999. the designs were registered

at the World Intellectual Property Organization

now being the first Jewellery collection

protected by International Copyright.

As we have already noticed, the myth of ATLANTIS,

the illegal Military government, and the absence of equally

valuable information *, delayed dramatically the scholarly appreciation of Prehistoric Thera Frescoes ...

Officially , history began 8 centuries later,

with the Homeric poems  that were written

around 600. BC for possible events that happened

approximately about 1400 BC.

The discovery of TROY by SLEMAN,

proved the historical considerations

of the HOMERIC POEMS, thus linear A and B,

the writing systems of MINOAN and MYCENEAN

civilization not being understood, delayed the scientific

recognition of the historical evidence of Minoan Crete

and Prehistoric Akrotiri: no language-no history.

Therefore to it is totally mistaken to consider myth

as evidence and evidence as myth, since the wall paintings

were organized pictures that we can understand.

We have created this site to help you realize how important

is to complete faster the excavations

with international participation since those frescoes

are not only of local but of  international interest as well .

* Since Akrotiri is the first excavated city with organized

painting varying from house to house so to compare

 and study the relationship.

BIOGRAPHY

   Panayotis Canellopoulos, born

in Athens in 1955,

studied Social Sciences

 in France ("Diplome de Maltrise"

in Psychology of the University

of Montpellier).

In the 80's he took active part

in several pilot programs promoted

 by Greek public organization

in view of the country's

   After losing his parents

since the early 90's he decides

 to continue the family's

 jewellery tradition.

   Firmly believing that real value

of the gold jewellery lies

 in the message it carries,

he moved away from

industrial, machine made jewellery,

instead he created an artistic

collection of hand-made

pieces, inspired from the

 four-thousand-year-old

Frescoes of Akrotiri.

   The worldwide acceptance

 of his simple, elegant

and meaningful design,

  encourage him to continue

his effort for the promotion

of the eternal ideas

of the Minoan world.

   Mr. Kanellopoulos wishes

 to publicly express his gratitude

to Professor Christos Doumas
