Santorini shipwreck
Once again yesterday, a new tragedy of Greek tourism has been joined the total impression that something wrong is going on, in the most important tourist destination in Europe , for the year 2005 for the reliable magazine of N.America’s favorite destinations....
A huge cruise ship “ Sea Diamond” carrying more than 1100 passengers and 300 crew members, has sank in frond of the eyes, of thousands of tourists , inside the port of Fira! Few years ago, the same industry who’s responsible for the disappearance of a European culture investment on the island, the famous Prehistoric Museum of Thera, where the wall paintings were exhibited, but mainly for the political manipulations, that had led
the previous Culture’s minister Mr. Tatoulis, to allow the tourists visits in the working area for the new seal of Akrotiri , that has caused the death of a tourist from Wales, who have been found under the broken seal , the new tragedy of yesterday with the missing of 2 French passengers, probably forgotten in their cabins, when the ship abandon has taken place , let no doubt, that something seriously wrong is happening there...

The consequences of both tragedies that had followed to each other , in few years time, without any excuse or logical explanation, if we only see that those who have kept out of tourists interests , a European investment on the island , to put their lives at high risk, on visiting a working area, before it’s delivered properly to the public use, are the same with those who had allowed, a huge ship to make maneuvers in such a dangerous waters full of rocks and limited space , if we only consider that in high season , often enough there are more than 7 ships docked in this tiny port...
Santorini after this second human tragedy in few years, seams totally uncontrolled by the local authorities and more than never, the necessity of UNESCO protection that this site claim, becomes urgent if we don’t need to see a more important,
in terms of life protection accidents, when people put their pockets, in frond of any other priority, despite common logic actions and priorities , such as to insure
the passengers’ lives and their will to visit the island’s culture sites and treasure....
